ABOUT CARRIO

Carrio (hereinafter App) is an application for drivers, which purpose is to enable safer use of digital services for drivers and to reduce driver distraction caused by smartphone use while driving. The user can permit the application to read the user's contacts and messages from the smartphone. The App does not use contacts or messages to anything else than explicitly requested by the user either by a voice command or touch gesture. For example, the content of a message is only used in reading aloud a message to the user and contacts are only used to initiate a call or send a message. Some message services require user authentication. The credentials for these services are encrypted in the application and are not used for any other purpose than receiving and sending messages. The App is not sending any messages automatically.
The App includes an automatic trip log, which saves the following basic information of each trip: start time, start location (street, city), trip distance, arrival time, destination (street, city), work/ private trip (set by the user) and a note if set by the user.
The App includes a Driving Game that analyses the drive style of the user. The Driving Game is enabled only if the user creates a Carrio account in the app. The drive style analysis gives a driving score for the user based on obeying speed limits and avoiding hard braking and accelerations. The speed limit data is originated from HERE Location Platform® or a regional data source and might include errors. Speeding, accelerating or braking hard cause penalty points and the driving score is formed from the relation of penalty points and distance driven by the user. The App saves the penalty points, but not for example the location where the penalty point was given. The App also does not save information about driving speeds or acceleration values.
The App collects in addition anonymized usage information that is used to improve the App.
The users can also send traffic information, which is anonymized as well.
The App includes features that require a subscription. Subscriptions are implemented via Google Play and the App does not store any information about payment methods.

WHY DO WE COLLECT THE DATA?

The purpose of collecting the personal data is to offer our users additional and personalized features (including tips to improve driving) in the App as well as offer our users benefits related the cars and driving.
Handling the data is based on:
- The permission given explicitly by the user
- To fulfill the End User License Agreement of the App

WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT?

The user can create a user account in the App, which enables the drive style analysis and gives the user an opportunity to get various benefits related cars and driving.
The following information is stored in the user account:
- Mandatory: First name, last name, email address, marketing permission (yes/ no)
- Optional: Phone, license plate of the user’s vehicle
We use 3rd party services like Google for user authentication and do not store passwords of the user.
The following information is collected regarding the drive style: penalty points, timestamp, category
The following information is collected regarding the trips: start time, start location (street, city), trip distance, arrival time, destination (street, city), work/ private trip (set by the user) and a note if set by the user.
The email can be used to inform about important updates regarding the App.
In case the user allows marketing, our partners may contact the user to offer their services and benefits related to their products or services.

HOW DO WE COLLECT THE DATA?

The user information is given by the user when signing up.
We use 3rd party services (like Google) for authentication and the used authentication service provides the name and email address.
Trip and drive style information is collected automatically when the user account is enabled.

HOW IS THE DATA STORED?

The data is stored in a well-known secure cloud service platform. All connection are secured with HTTPS and the data can be accessed only by authorized and authenticated users.
The user account data (i.e. contact information) is stored separately from the trip and drive style data. The user is authenticated with a 3rd party authentication service (e.g. Google).

WHO GETS ACCESS TO THE INFORMATION?

Creating a Carrio user account is optional. If the user creates the user account and explicitly gives the App the marketing permission, the user’s contact information and driving score can be shared to our partners, who are offering products and services related to driving.
The partners can be:
- Insurance companies
- Companies offering services and products for cars and driving
All the information is delivered in digital format via secured connection and services requiring authentication. At Ficonic Solutions only the carefully selected people involved in product development can access the user information.

PROFILING

The driving score can be used to offer benefits to user. For example, best drivers might get better benefits than others.

IS THE DATA TRANSFERRED OUTSIDE THE EU/ETA?

None of the collected personal data is transferred outside EU/ETA.

HOW LONG IS THE DATA KEPT?

We keep the data as long as the user account exists. However, we reserve the right to delete unused user accounts from time to time.

RIGHTS OF THE USER

Every user is entitled to the following:
1) Request for copies of the user’s personal data.
2) Ask us to correct any information the user believes is incorrect and to complete any information that the user believes is incomplete.
3) The right to be forgotten: The personal data of the user is erased when the user deletes her/his user account.
4) Cancel processing the user’s personal data by removing the user account.
5) Opt-in or opt-out the marketing permission at any time by making the change in the user account with the App.
6) Get a copy of the user’s personal data in a digital format per request. The data is delivered to the authorized and authenticated user within 30 days.
7) Lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority
